Information Governance

The good management of personal information is critical to the delivery of high quality and safe healthcare.

Good information governance means having effective, efficient and embedded structures and practices in place to ensure the security and confidentiality of patient and service user records.

The Care Quality Commission strongly recommend that organisations obtain independent validation of information governance capability.  In addition, Connecting for Health requires commissioners of healthcare services to agree and implement systems to check the ability of healthcare providers to meet Information Governance Statement of Compliance requirements which mandates organisations to work towards compliance with stringent ISO27000 series standards on information security. Our auditors are accredited to audit to this standard.

These NHS Information Governance requirements apply to all providers of NHS healthcare.
