Financial Healthcheck

Financial Healthcheck

The current financial position within the UK, and specifically within the health economy, means that organisations are constantly being asked to do more for less. A clear approach to identifying areas for savings, is essential. Ensuring that basic financial processes are robust, provides a sound grounding for decisions to be taken, and will also ensure that resources are only spent on essential items.

We work with a range of organisations from primary and secondary care, as well as social enterprises, to provide a financial systems healthcheck. We provide a range of qualified staff to complete detailed systems analysis and process documentation work, as well as performing detailed testing of the operation of controls. We design the scope of the review to meet your needs, focusing on a specific area, or providing a wide ranging assessment, covering the whole financial system.

By having a detailed assessment of the financial control environment, it is often possible to negotiate a reduction in external audit fees, as this work will cover their requirements under international auditing standards.

We currently perform a range of work in the following areas:

  • Accounts payable (purchasing) cycle.
  • Accounts receivable (sales) cycle.
  • Cash and treasury management, including investment strategy.
  • Financial system controls.
  • Budget management and financial reporting.
  • Payroll systems.
  • Financial sensitivity of business plans.
  • Financial management/savings plans.
  • Stock management and recording processes.
  • Detailed testing of existing processes.

We can complete the following range of reviews in the areas documented above:

  • Documentation of existing processes.
  • Design of robust financial processes.
  • Detailed testing of existing processes.

Each review will provide recommended areas for enhancing the controls within your financial systems to ensure that you have greater control over the use of resources and are, therefore, better placed to manage increased activity within a static or reducing income stream.
